SHARING OUR STORY
We seek to live Jesus’ command to love God with all our heart, mind and soul, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We endeavor to demonstrate this commitment in various acts of service locally, regionally, and internationally
Alleviate Human Suffering
East Mountain Food Pantry:
Weekly and Monthly Food collections: Provides food to people in need who live in the East Mountains.
Christmas Baskets: a Cooperative event with the EM Food Pantry at Christmas time.
Asbury Pie Cafe: The Asbury Cafe is a mission of Asbury UMC and several other local churches. All proceeds go to local charities that feed people. (East Mountain Food Pantry being one of the recipients).
Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity: Builds community – one home, one family at a time – by making it possible for low-income families to own decent, affordable homes.
Dream Center of NM: provides services to survivors of human trafficking and youth experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque.
Four Corners Native American Ministry: provides services for Native Americans in the Shiprock, NM area.
Strengthen Christian Communities
Pastor Vragne Liberus at Eglise Evangeline Des Cours, Petion Ville, Haiti Pastor Vragne and his Christian mission provides a church school, an orphanage, food, water, and other basic needs to many displaced Haitians.
Juntos: A Christian ministry of the Navigators organization serving at-risk youth in the east-Central Ave. area of ABQ.
McCurdy Ministries: provides after school, preschool, mental health counseling, summer camp, youth programs, adult education, high school equivalency, literacy coaching, parenting, and grand parenting support groups to benefit families of the Espanola Valley.
Seek Justice, Freedom, and Peace
Veteran’s Integration Center – We provide emergency housing, food, clothing, and case management. We provide extensive, personalized support, and resources to help Veterans and their families.
Missionaries: Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World
Wesley Primary School Morogoro, Tanzania: Mountainside has committed to a 3 year Covenant Relationship thru 2026 with the Wesley Primary School Mission. This means that we will sponsor 12 vulnerable students through our prayers, presence, service, witness, and gifts for paying for their school fees and food.
The Lighthouse in Brno, Czech Republic: A mission church offering Christian fellowship, Bible study, Youth camp, and English classes to the unchurched. Missionaries Json and Karensa McFrederick have been serving in the Czech Republic for 16 years. Currently, they have been helping and housing refuges from Ukraine.
Other
UMCOR: United Methodist Committee on Relief: UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own. Through UMCOR, United Methodists extend loving care to people within the United States.
Meals on Wheels: Delivering meals and providing social interaction to the homebound, elderly, and those with special needs. They are always looking for volunteers and substitute drivers.
